New Website, Best in Graf

For those who haven't seen it yet, the APW Website has been revamped. It's shiny, it's new, and you should go see it. While you're there sign the Guestbook and let us know what you think of the changes. We are hoping that the Guestbook will allow participating artists to say hi to each other from all parts of the globe.

And now... (drumroll)... the Best of the Graf show. Congrats to ARMOgedon's, Dasic, and Dan Lisowski for being chosen for this. One of them will be awarded with a solo show at APW. We will announce which of these artists has won that honor soon. See their works after the jump.

Patrick's pick from this show is ARMOgedon's creation with 3D complexities.

This modern take on pointillism by Dasic is Hans' choice.

Dan Lisowski makes Best in Show two shows in a row, this time as Kerry's pick.

Loads of Halloween Pics

Kerry aint afraid of no ghosts.

I know you all have been itching to see how last Friday's Halloween show turned out, so here are the pics. It was another great APW opening with an awesome selection of custom toys. Props to Osiris Orion and crew for coming in full costume. THANKS to all who came out. See you in a few for the Small Works Show.

More pics after the jump and even more pics in the following links:

For opening night pics and pics of the WORKS IN THE SHOW go to this page in the APW website. All works are also on sale here.

For MORE opening pics and other random goodness go to Oi Ling Hu's Flickr. A warm special thanks to Oi, our unpaid photography intern. Ha! ....just kidding dammit!

AND thanks to Geekanerd for covering the event.

PLUS loads of pics after the jump!

Poet girl fixes her lipstick.

AXH Animation shows artist Collin David how to play the world's smallest violin. If Collin cares, he really shouldn't.

Patrick Francisco explains why it's okay for adults to play with toys. Sung Mun is playing the violin in her pocket.

Steve asks, "Is this thing on?" LED indicates YES!

Gathered to listen to that same violin. LAST time I mention it I swear!

The crew is all smiles as Oi snaps a shot. In the back left, Piotr3D pretends he doesn't know us.

Virtual Vinyl Record

Here is another video featuring a participant of our recent Vinyl Record Show. This portrait by Ramires Arte is interactive, and literally is more than meets they eye. There is a virtual version of this work where you can turn the wheel yourself. Awesome work by Ramires Arte. We hope to see more from this artist at APW.

Video Review by Jana Gouchev

Jana Gouchev, one of the exhibiting artists for our Vinyl Record Show, took this video during the opening reception and provides some commentary on the art. If you weren't there, see what you missed and kick yourself. Thanks Jana!

Hit the jump for more info on Jana Gouchev

From Jana's website:

"Maintaining that all her work is a reaction to reality, Gouchev’s compositions are actively improvisational. Her art introduces irreverence and, at times, sexual innuendo by punctuating ragged blocks of layered color with darting lines, splatters of ink spread like dance steps, and quasi signs echoing street art.

Jana Gouchev is the founder and editor-in-chief of Notion, the visual arts and fashion magazine, and an editorial manager at The New York Times."

Halloween Show on ToyCyte

Looks like there is a write-up on our upcoming Halloween show on Toycyte. Thanks to Collin David, who is also participating in the show, for writing about it. And CONGRATS to OsirisOrion for having his work featured in the article. Thanks, Rob, for letting me steal the screenshot!

From Collin:
"Demons, goblins, wolfmen and pyroclasmic explosions of hellfire are guaranteed to be on display, and I’d conjecture that there’ll be more than a few terrifying mummies, Draculas, zombies and Palins scattered about the gallery as well."
